Does anyone have definitive, indisputable answers as to the safety of the rifles and above concerns? I have read buying new bolt heads, other say it's not an issue (BOTR), can't find a definitive. With folks still shooting war torn Enfields, I feel I must be doing something wrong for these issues to occur with a near mint and fair condition Mk2. The less nicer one bulges cartridges, but also punches deep into primers, as if the case slid back and punched it. I shot them both at the range today, and looking at the brass, the nicer of the two bulges cartridges somewhat. These are pretty clean No4 Mk2s with lots of barrel life left according to the bullet test. One closed on all three as well, the other closed on the go and no go, just barely failed to close on field. So just for grins, I checked my other two rifles. To verify further, I purchased SAAMI go, no go, and field gauges and it closes effortlessly on all 3. The basic bullet down the barrel test failed using S&B ammunition and Snap Caps. I recently purchased a No4 Mk1* that was Ishapore refurbished that I had concerns with prior to firing. I have 2 functional No4 Mk2s which I have shot a few times. Hi all, I'm fairly new to Enfields but dove headfirst into them.
